Mike has been leading teams and companies in environmental consulting since the early 1980s. He was the founding President/CEO of a successful natural resources consulting firm, which he started with five colleagues in 1989 and ran for 12 years. Over the past 20 years, Mike’s work has taken him from Puget Sound, throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, and to tropical and sub-tropical ecosystems, such as Ghana, West Africa, and the Republic of Palau. His experience adds a highly valuable and unique perspective to his leadership of projects. Mike’s primary focus is impacts on fish and aquatic ecosystems, both freshwater and marine, for a wide range of development activities, including highways and pipelines, mining, marinas, and industrial facilities.

In his role as a trusted adviser to an Industrial Development Project for Sierra Pacific Industries, Mike serves as lead permitting strategist for site critical areas studies, wetland mitigation planning, and local, state, and federal environmental permitting. Efforts include wetland delineations and critical areas studies, preparation of SEPA checklists and JARPA applications to support proposed developments, cultural resource studies, wetland mitigation planning and strategy development. This project spans Washington’s Grays Harbor and Skagit counties, calling for cross-county coordination, in addition to local, state, and federal permitting coordination and management.

As Project Manager for site investigations and permitting for an Asphalt Facility Development Project, Mike assembled and is managing a team of consultants to provide the client with a single point of contact for all the permits and approvals needed to build their facility. This project has required skills across multiple and diverse technical disciplines including geotechnical investigations and engineering analysis, environmental review and permitting, and air quality permits for facility operations.
